“A STORY OF HOPE” – A SCHOLARSHIP FOR THE ARTS
BENEFACTORS: LEAH AND DAVID HARE
“A Story of Hope” is offered to young performers exclusively applying for a place at the Apollo Theatre College full time course.
The purpose of the scholarship is to provide funding to the college so that it can in turn offer support to one or more students with financial circumstances that may inhibit their ability to attend the college.
In describing their commitment to seeing young men and women seizing the opportunities available to them, Leah and David aptly named this scholarship “A Story of Hope”. They wish for it to represent their continuing commitment to seeing young men and women of all walks of life having equal opportunities to the hope of a fulfilled life.
The inspiration behind this scholarship comes from Leah and David’s personal commitment of wanting to address the hopelessness faced by young people around the world imprisoned by human trafficking. Their personal experiences have inspired them to provide opportunity here to young men and women through the arts. It is believed that the “Story of Hope” scholarship will in turn inspire our students and whole College community to think beyond their day to day life of how they can inspire and help others whether it be close to home or further afield.
Scholarship recipients will be identified during the audition process by the selection committee which is made up of the college director, staff of the college, and Leah Hare.
Scholarship applicants will be interviewed as part of their application process.
Students should be aged between 17 and 25 years old
Scholarship applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.
Scholarship applicants will need to provide information on why they require scholarship funding and will be required to provide character references as recipients will be required to demonstrate such qualities as: resourcefulness, dedication and integrity.
The Apollo Theatre College would like to acknowledge its sincere thanks to Leah and David Hare for providing this funding for students who require financial assistance.
