Rina Chae is a first generation NZ Citizen, who migrated from Korea to New Zealand at the age of 10 in 1993. She was heavily influenced by the creative arts of Aotearoa, and followed her passion to graduate Auckland University in Bachelor of Performing Arts.
After the training years at university, Rina travelled the world – Australia, Vancouver, London, New York & Los Angeles to further develop her skills as a dancer. It was in 2007 when she successfully auditioned to be a principal dancer at the renowned Choreographer’s Carnival in Los Angeles and had an experience of working under the industry’s top choreographer, that her journey began to fully develop and explore her dance skills.
During her 6 years in Los Angeles (2009-2014), she underwent a hard, competitive yet much fulfilling dance journey. Her first big break was on the US National TV dancing as a lead dancer on the “Svedka” commercial. She continued to work hard, train, while assisting with a Jazz Funk class at the world-famous Millenium Dance Studio in 2010 (video here and here) then rapidly built a solid resume.
She performed alongside some of the billboard’s top artists such as Beyonce (VMAS Mash-Up), Chris Brown “Fine China”, Justin Bieber “Boyfriend”, Neyo “Give Me Everything”, and Eric Benet “Harriet Jones”.
Rina has been one of the principal cast for New Year’s Shows and Corporate events at Las Vegas resorts such as Aria, Bellagio, and MGM through Entertainment Plus Productions that provide shows all over US from glitzy modern burlesque to beautifully conceptualized contemporary (video link). After performing non-stop on stage and screen – “Face Off” , “90210; Life is a Beach,” “Aviiq,” “Glory Daze” –Rina decided it was time to head back home to Auckland, New Zealand.
