Joanne Collins is a multi-disciplinary dancer, who trained with Prue and Debbie Gooch at the Dance Education Centre in Tauranga from 1986 – 1997 during which time she received many National and International awards and scholarships. Following her training in N.Z Joanne graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts (Melbourne) in 2000 the youngest Bachelor of Arts Degree graduate.
Joanne has worked as a freelance artist based in Melbourne, Australia, performing in various contemporary dance projects, music videos, film premiers, and sporting events. From 2003-2005 she travelled North and South America, the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Alaska and Hawaii as Dance Captain, Soloist, and Silk/Harness flyer for Royal Caribbean International Cruise Lines.
Upon return to Australia, Joanne created successful performance troupes and dance classes Showgirls Dream, and Foxy Follies, affiliated with Swing Patrol. Since living in New Zealand again Joanne has taught for the Dance Education Centre, and become an Examiner for British Ballet Organization (B.B.O).
She currently works full time at the Apollo Theatre College and continues her professional dance career working with The Apollo Theatre Company and The Human Agency. Recent performances include NZ Beauty Expo, The Glenn Miller Orchestra NZ Tour 2013 and The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra NZ Tour 2014, Sylvia Park Fashion Shows, (Dancer and Choreographer) New Year’s Eve and Chinese New Year at Sky City, Queen of The Whole Universe, Fight For Life, Lakeside Rotorua, and appearances in various television shows.
